Noah da Costa

About

I photograph the half-second most people miss.

I'm Noah da Costa, a photographer based in Pretoria. It started on the sidelines — watching the photographers working the touchline at matches, catching the moments the rest of the crowd blinked past. That pulled me in. I bought my first camera in December 2024 and I've been chasing those moments ever since.

Most weekends you'll find me shooting sport, but wildlife is the other half of it — there's something about being out in nature, waiting for an animal to do the one thing worth keeping. Across both, I work the same way: composition first, and as much right in-camera as I can, so the photo holds up without leaning on heavy editing.

I'd rather not hand you a generic frame. I look for the angle nobody else is shooting — the perspective that makes a familiar moment feel new. I cover sport and selected cultural events for Pretoria Boys High School most weekends, and one of my photographs was recently featured by SuperSport Schools.

“Get it right in the camera. The moment should do the work, not the edit.”
