About
I photograph the half-second most people miss.
I'm Noah da Costa, a photographer working across South Africa. My work lives in three places — the touchline, the bush, and the stage — but it's really about one thing: the instant a moment tips over into something worth keeping.
On the sports field that's the break before the crowd reacts, the dive at the baseline, the surfer committed at the top of the wave. In the bush it's the opposite discipline — hours of patience for the one turn of the head in good light. Different tempos, same instinct.
Dance is where I'm headed next: the line and tension of bodies that train for years to make the impossible look easy. If that's your world, I'd love to shoot it.
“Gear gets you to the moment. Patience and timing are what actually make the photograph.”
